Hi! My name is Anjali Shah and I’m so glad you stopped by!

I’m a Certified Health Coach, accredited by the American Association of Drugless Practitioners, and a healthy food and lifestyle blogger at The Picky Eater . My work has been featured on Dr. Oz, Food Network, Whole Foods, CookingLight, SHAPE, Kaiser Permanente, CNN’s Headline News, and Macy’s. I graduated from UC Berkeley in 2004, and received my holistic health coaching degree from the Institute of Integrative Nutrition in 2013. While my accomplishments and credentials have given me a wealth of knowledge about health and wellness, it’s really my philosophy and my approach that makes me uniquely qualified to help you.

Here’s my story:



I was born and raised in the San Francisco Bay Area. I like to say that I grew up a “whole wheat” girl. My parents were very health-conscious and healthy eating was always a topic of conversation in our house.

When I went to college, I discovered the world of cheesy pizzas, late night fast-food runs, ooey-gooey chocolate chip cookies with ice cream, and all-you-can-eat buffets. Needless to say, I “fell off the wagon.” I gained my share of the Freshman 15, and that’s when my interest in health and wellness began.

But I didn’t know how to get healthy the right way. I thought it was all about calories (trust me, it’s not), and I was way too stressed out and emotionally not in a healthy place. When I got married, I realized I need to get healthy for me and for my husband. My husband lived on frozen pizzas and fast food when I met him, so my health journey also involved transforming him from a “fast-food-loving” guy to one that actually eats healthy food now! I learned how to cook, discovered my local farmer’s market, and developed a love for whole foods, nutrition, and eating without deprivation. I also developed a passion for helping women like myself who wanted to rebuild their health, lose weight, and feel their best – while living a busy lifestyle.


You’ll quickly realize that I’m not like any other nutrition or weight loss expert out there. I am a total foodie, I don’t believe in “bad foods” or deprivation, I love wine and chocolate, I believe in the “no-diet” diet, and I believe that exercise can be fun!

You won’t find quick-fixes or fad-diets here. I find most weight-loss advice unrealistic and hard to follow. What you will find is a path to sustainable weight loss, a truly healthy lifestyle, a sense of empowerment to achieve both your health and personal goals, and freedom from all of the diets out there.

Once I achieved a whole, healthy body and lifestyle, I felt truly happy (but being thin wasn’t what made me happy – it was having a fulfilled life and healthy body that did!) And when your life is fulfilled, you won’t need to fill up on food to feel satisfied.
